Getty Villa in Malibu
Modeled after the Villa of the Papyri at Herculaneum along with details from other ancient sites, the Getty Villa Museum contains Greek, Roman, and Etruscan artifacts. Admission to the museum is free, but an advanced time-entry ticket is required. (Tickets are not required, however, for children 15 and under.) These tickets can be obtained by phone or website. Parking is $15. Please note that the museum is closed on Tuesday. There is also a cafe on site. The museum is actually located in Pacific Palisades at 17985 Pacific Coast Highway. Eastern Asian Art Display
The Norton Simon Museum located at 411 Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena has a display of eastern Asian art. It includes statues, columns from stupas, and stone reliefs covering Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The museum is open from noon to 6:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Admission for adults is $8.00, but students with a valid ID are FREE. http://www.nortonsimon.org/ Check it out!
